2018 Aussie Millions Poker Championship Will Be Streamed By Jason

The Aussie Millions Poker Championship is one of the premier poker tournaments in the Asia-Pacific region and draws hundreds of poker players from all over the world. The 2017 Aussie Millions drew a lot of attention from poker fans across the world after Jason Somerville livestreamed the event via his popular Twitch channel.

Somerville To Live Stream 2018 Aussie Millions

Aussie Millions has once again teamed up with Somerville for the 2018 edition and poker fans will be able to watch live action via Twitch. Founded in 1998, Aussie Millions is an annual series of poker tournaments held at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. The Aussie Millions Poker Championship has a prize pool that exceeds A$7 million and is held at the start of each year.

In 2016, when Somerville first partnered with Aussie Millions, his tournament livestream became the most-watched live poker Twitch event of the year. Organizers are expecting livestream ratings for 2018 to surpass the last two years. Poker enthusiasts all around the world can be a part of the 2018 Aussie Millions Poker Championship via Somerville’s livestream via his Twitch channel.

Somerville is one of the most popular poker pros in the world and has total live earnings amounting to more than $3.6 million. His live tournament career dates back to 2005 at the East Coast Poker Championships. His largest win to date is at a $100,000 + 2,000 No-Limit Hold’em Super High Roller, which earned him more than $1.3 million after finishing in 4th place. His Twitch channel is the most popular live streaming poker channel in the industry and Aussie Millions will continue to leverage his following to build their brand.

Aussie Millions Continues To Grow In Popularity

In 2017, Shurane Vijayaram won Aussie Millions Main Event and took home A$1.6 million from the A$7.68 million prize pool. The Main Event concluded after Vijayaram’s gruelling head to head with Ben Heath, who took home A$1 million for finishing in 2nd place. Vijayaram’s million-dollar prize was his first official live tournament cash and made headlines in the global poker community as he succeeded in turning his A$130 re-buyin to over a million dollars within a week’s time.  

Aussie Millions 2018 started early with its warm-up week on June 5 to June 11, 2017. Players were able to join in daily free-to-enter qualifiers and nightly A$250 Mega Satellites that offered eight direct entries to the 2018 Main Event. Aussie Millions is still holding satellite events running round the clock from December 12 to 14. The satellite qualifiers feature buy-ins as low as A$20 and goes up to A$200 for Deepstack qualifiers.

All of these are in preparation for the Aussie Millions 2018, which will run from January 17 to February 5. The Opening Event will feature a A$1 million prize pool guarantee which starts on January 17 and has a buy-in of A$1,150. There will be a lot of exciting low stake and high stake action throughout the tournament featuring No Limit Hold’Em, Pot Limit Omaha, Mixed Games, and cash games. The highlight of the tournament will be the A$10,600 Main Event which begins on January 28.

Apart from the Main Event, a lot of players are also looking forward to celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January with the A$25,000 Challenge tournament. The other high stakes event that top poker pros are looking forward is the A$100,000 Challenge which takes place on Feb 4.
