Day 2 of NLHE Shootout set to begin at WSOPE
256 players decided there were better things to do in Cannes than play baccarat and registered for the €3,200 No limit Holdem Shootout event at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe tournament series on Tuesday and by the end of the day just 30 players were able to win their first round table and advance to Day 2 of the event on Wednesday.
Amongst the players who were able to advance were Freddy Deeb, Vanessa Selbst, Chad Brown, Bertrand “ElkY” Grosspellier, Terrence Chan, Emil Patel, and Tobias Reinkemeier.
Shootouts always pose a logistical nightmare for the tournament officials, and typically need to be adjusted between Day 1 and Day 2, which is precisely what happened at the WSOPE. Unlike Day 1, which saw 30 tables with 8 or 9 competitors at each, Day 2 of the tournament will test the players’ versatility as there will be 10 tables of just 3 players in action. The reasoning behind 3-handed tables was to keep the final table 10-handed, so one winner from each table will advance to Thursday’s final table of 10 players.
Here is a look at the Ten 3-handed tables that will be in action on Wednesday:
