Doyle Brunson skipping EPT and EPL for cash-game

Apparently if your name is Doyle Brunson the prospect of playing in the $20,000 buy-in Epic Poker League Main Event or being a guest of honor at the EPT Prague Main Event still takes a backseat to a good old-fashioned high-stakes cash-game (presumably with a few whales) according to his Twitter account.

Brunson has never been a big traveler to poker tournaments, so it was quite a surprise when the Septuagenarian Brunson made his EPT debut earlier this year in London. His presence in Europe was supposed to continue, but he pulled out of the World Series of Poker Europe which he was scheduled to attend.

Brunson was slated to appear at both the EPT Prague Main Event that begins next week, as well as the Epic Poker League Main Event on December 14th, but according to his most recent Tweets he is once again pulling out of these events, citing a weekend cash-game as the reason???

“I’m not playing in the Epic tournament. I just wanted to let everybody know I like the format and will support it when possible,”

“I have an opportunity to play in a very high stakes poker game this weekend, this is why I am not playing in the EPT. Any pro would understand,”

I’m not 100% certain how a weekend cash-game is going to dominate his schedule for a few weeks, so there is probably a little more to the story than the cagey Brunson is letting on –we’ll have to wait and see precisely which cash-game Texas Dolly is talking about.
