Full Tilt Poker remains perfect fighting lawsuits
Full Tilt Poker is no stranger to litigation, but the company’s track record fighting these claims –most being extremely far-fetched– may cause future plaintiffs to reconsider bringing a case against the online poker giant.
This week saw Full Tilt Poker prevail on two fronts:
In a civil suit filed in California, two former players at the site, Lary Kennedy and Greg Omotoy, alleged that the site had seized $80,000 from them unfairly for allegedly using “Poker Bots” which is against Full Tilt Poker’s terms & conditions. The two players filed charges against Full Tilt including false advertising, libel and fraud; on Monday the case was thrown out of court.
In Kentucky, where the state is pursuing a host of charges against Full Tilt Poker a judge ruled that Full Tilt Poker’s parent company did not have to comply with the state’s lawyers seeking ‘Discovery’. The judge ruled that Pocket Kings was not served in a timely fashion, and at this time discovery is not permitted.
Despite the win in the Kentucky courtroom, Full Tilt’s legal issues in the state are a long way from being resolved, but at least the civil suit in California can be tossed aside.
