Man amongst final 14 in the WSOP Ladies Tournament

On Sunday we might just have our first red-faced, and heavily booed, winner of a World Series of Poker bracelet considering Jonathan Epstein is currently sitting in 7th place with 14 players remaining in the $1k Ladies Championship. And no, Jonathan is not a cutesy name given to a baby girl in the early 80’s, Jonathan Epstein was one of the dozen or so men who entered the tournament on Friday.

Fortunately this will be the last year we have to deal with men entering the Ladies Tournament since the Nevada legislature has passed a law allowing casinos to bar men from Women’s Tournaments –unfortunately the law had not gone into effect by the start of the Ladies Tournament.

Should Epstein win, you can expect the boo birds to be out in full force, and the photo of him with the specially designed pink WSOP bracelet will likely leave him embarrassed and the butt of many jokes for years to come.

Here is a look at the top 10 chip counts heading into the final day of the tournament:

1. Valerie McColligan – 482,000

2. Katherine Stahl – 352,000

3. Peg Ledman – 326,000

4. Amanda Baker 326,000

5. Carol Tomlinson – 313,000

6. Jennifer Cowan – 231,000

7. Jonathan Epstein – 216,000

8. Gloutnez Genevine – 201,000

9. Amanda Sizmore – 194,000

10. Marsha Wolak – 154,000

Get over it! If men are permitted to play, they ought to be able to advance without people”booing.” This is reverse discrimination. Is there a “Men’s World Series of Poker?” No. All women can play in the World Series of Poker. So I say again, get over it!
