PocketFives assisting wayward online poker players

As the reality of Black Friday begins to set in for many US-based online poker players, on poker site has decided to help these poker players relocate to other countries where they will once again be able to resume their online poker careers. PocketFives.com has launched a Poker Refugee page, where wayward poker players can receive some general information on relocating to a number of other countries around the globe.

To help with the effort PocketFives has enlisted the help of Kristen Wilson, who specializes in commercial and residential leasing in Costa Rica. While general advice is available on the site, for more detailed information, or to have Kristin assist you in a move you will have to pay a $1,000 fee, followed by a fee of $750 for each person or $1,500 for a family. She specializes in Costa Rica, Panama, and Canada, but players looking to move to other countries can contact her on an individual basis.

So, what will $1,750 get you? Basically, Kristin will answer all of your questions and then assist you in setting up travel plans, securing the proper visas (you listening Jungleman?), choosing where to live, setting up a local bank account, making contact with other ex-pats in the area.

The Poker Refugee portion of PocketFives contains free information such as a country-by-country comparison, examining things like # of days tourists can stay without a visa (on a passport); speed of Internet in the country; and whether or not a non-citizen can open a bank account in the stated country (a major obstacle to setting up an online poker account).

PocketFives co-founder Cal Spears summed up the service, and the site’s decision to run with it, in the following way: “It was a member that brought the idea up to Adam [Small, one of the co-owners of Pocket Fives] and Adam knew Kristin Wilson, who is a real estate agent in Costa Rica. We saw people posting about it on the forums and realized there’s a big market of professional poker players who no longer had a place to play. It’s not an easy process, but she has a ton of experience with it and gives them an easy way to relocate.”

Here is a look at the checklist of services from the Poker Refugees site:

* Detailed Requirements and Tips to Set Up a Local Bank Account
