PokerKing Joins the Cake Network

The last few months have been a big one for the Cake Poker Network.  A new poker skin called Poker King has now joined the 4th largest US-friendly poker network, whose clientele is mainly based in China, Asia.

Poker King, which is run and operator by major Asian Gaming Operators SunGame, will be the 65th skin running on the Cake Network.  The news comes literally a few months after Victory Poker made the same move to the Cake Network from Everleaf Gaming. According to PokerScout.com the move now makes the Cake Network the 18th largest in the world with a weekly average of around 1,000 ring table players. The US-friendly site is now even slightly bigger than Everest Poker.

In addition to Poker King joining the Cake network, the guys over at Cake Poker have confirmed a new multi-currency feature to be implemented on their network, which allows players to change the currency displayed in ring games or lobby. The table stakes, bet-sizes and account cashier can all be changed from Pounds to Yuan or US Dollars to Euros etc…

A spokesperson for SunGame stated, “We are very excited and proud to launch our new Poker product and we are very thankful for the incredible support of the Cake Network. It is so gratifying to work with Cake as they support our Asian currencies and Asian languages as well as our views on marketing.”

The addition of Poker King to the Cake Network is great news for the Cake Network’s headquarters that are based in Curaçao, Dutch Antilles.  The name Poker King incidentally stems from the name of a popular Chinese film revolving around poker and created by SunGame.  Poker King the movie, which was released in August 2009 (in timing with the APT in Macaua) was used as a marketing and publicity campaign to promote poker in Asia and inform that it was a game of skill as opposed to just being a game of luck.

In either case, what’s almost certain is that the Cake Network has now given itself a massive head start in targeting the Asian poker markets and China itself which has largely been ignored by European and US-based operators.
