After a hard fought day at the poker tables the final eight competitors in the PokerStars.it EPT San Remo Main event are set, and it’s Australian David Neilson leading the way, finally topping the chip-counts after being amongst the chip-leaders for most of the tournament.

Falling by the wayside on Day 5 of the EPT San Remo Main Event were a number of the big names that were left in the tournament: Recent WSOPE Main Event champion Elio Fox was amongst the first player to hit the rail on Wednesday, and was joined by the likes of Team PokerStars Pros Johnny Lodden and Lex Veldhuis, Epic Poker League winner Mike “Timex” McDonald, Italian star Alessio Isaia, as well as the Day 3 and Day 4 chip-leader Chris McClung.

The final table still has some star-power despite the loss of the above mentioned players, as Kevin MacPhee, Barny Boatman, and Jan Bendik were amongst the eight players who survived the day to reach Thursday’s final table.

Here is a look at the final table chip counts heading into the last day of the EPT San Remo Main Event for Season 8 of the PokerStars EPT:
