PokerStars, the world’s biggest and most popular online poker site has today officially launched its first site in the US state of New Jersey. The site had a successful soft-launch several days ago and it now will be operating fully as an online poker destination for New Jersey residents.

The launch has been a highly anticipated event for the company and the worldwide poker industry as a whole. PokerStars was forced to pull out of its operations in the US after the infamous Black Friday incident in 2011. This caused PokerStars to be indicted by the US Department of Justice, and they were forced to block their players in the US from making real money payments on the site.

Following this, PokerStars has made recents efforts to re-enter the US online poker market. Excitement has been building for several months within the state of New Jersey, as players anticipate the launch of the popular poker room. As part of the USA’s strict gambling regulations, online poker sites must be partnered with a land-based casino for them to be able to legally provide a gambling platform for online players. PokerStars therefore has joined with Resorts Casino Hotel in New Jersey’s top gambling resort Atlantic City. David Baazov – the CEO of Amaya Inc, the company which owns and controls PokerStars – has announced that, “we could not be more proud to bring PokerStars to New Jersey. Working with our partner, we look forward to providing the most exciting, innovative and secure gaming experience to New Jersey.”

Amaya received the approval for the new PokerStars New Jersey site from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement last year. The launch of the new site has been lauded by owner of the Resorts Casino, Morris Bailey, who stated that, “this is a great day for online gaming, for state players and residents and for Atlantic City”.

Now that PokerStars, the world’s biggest online poker brand, has established itself in New Jersey many are confident that it will take off in other states soon, such as California. PokerStars New Jersey will offer players a range of tournaments, such as the Special Sunday, as well as a selection of casino games such as Blackjack, Roulette, Slots and Baccarat. The site will offer new players who sign up this week a first deposit bonus and a ticket into a lucrative $25,000 freeroll tournament. The poker client is easy to download and is fully safe to use. Amaya being one of the world’s most regulated online gaming companies, with gaming licenses in a dozen jurisdictions and over 100 million registered customers across the world, they are fully committed to the highest standards of regulation, safety and security for their online players.

The new StarsCoin, formerly known as “frequent player points” or FPPs, is PokerStars currency that players can use to purchase tickets to online tournament, merchandise and cash rewards from the PokerStars New Jersey VIP Store. Players who previously held an account with PokerStars can use the log in details from their old account and can regain their last held VIP status and their StarsPoints.
