PokerStars NAPT Los Angeles attracts 701 players

The PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour is putting up some very impressive numbers in its first season. The NAPT stop in Los Angeles is the latest tour stop to top 700 players –with a total of 701 players registering over the course of the two Day 1 flights.

With Day 1a and 1b officially in the books, a number of top pros have worked their way to the top of the leader-board. Among the chip-leaders at the Bicycle Casino for the NAPT Los Angeles Main Event are Scott Fischman, Jason Mercier, Alec Torelli, Mike Sowers, Michael Binger, Tom Marchese, John Phan, and Joe Cada.

The unofficial first-stop on the NAPT was the 2010 PCA –which combines all of the PokerStars.net poker tours worldwide, and has turned into one of the most prestigious poker tournaments in the world. Season 1 of the NAPT officially began at the Venetian in February, with 872 players entering the tournament –The NAPT Venetian was won by Card Player Magazine Player of the Year leader Tom Marchese. This was followed by the 716 players who registered for the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event in April – The NAPT Mohegan Sun title was captured by Vanessa Selbst.

The NAPT Los Angeles will award $725,000 to the winner of the tournament; a shade under the $750,000 Selbst took home for her NAPT win at Mohegan Sun.
