Raymond and Liu inducted into the Women in Poker HOF

On August 31st two very deserving women were inducted into the Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WIPHOF) as Kathy Raymond and JJ Liu joined a number of their peers as members of the WIPHOF. Liu is best known as a tournament player, who has been one of the most successful female tournament players in her long career, while Raymond has excelled on the other side of the felt, first as a Cardroom Manager at Foxwoods before moving on to the Venetian in Las Vegas.

The ceremony took place at the Golden Nugget Casino in downtown Las Vegas with a cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by a sit-down meal and then the induction of Liu and Raymond. All proceeds from the event went to the Poker Gives charity.

JJ Liu – Poker Player

JJ Liu is one of the most recognizable names in tournament poker. She has nine WSOP cashes, including three final tables, along with five WPT cashes, including a fourth-place finish in the 2005 Five Diamond Poker Classic WPT Main Event. She is currently ranked 7th on the all time female poker player list with over $2.5 million in winnings.

Kathy Raymond – Industry Professional

Kathy Raymond has held every possible cardroom position during her 14 years at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. After reaching the apex, Director of Poker Operations, Raymond was instrumental in bringing the WPT to Foxwoods. She eventually left Foxwoods for the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas and has turned that poker room into one of the premier rooms in the center of the poker universe, Las Vegas. She is also an avid cash game poker player with her favorite game being HORSE.

The two women will now have their names added to the following list of former inductees:

* The Class of 2008 – Marsha Waggoner, Susie Isaacs, Linda Johnson, and Barbara Enright

* The Class of 2009 – Cyndi Violette, Jan Fisher, and June Field

* The Class of 2010 – Kathy Liebert, Jen Harman, and Billie Brown

* The Class of 2011 – Kristy Gazes, Margie Heintz, and Phyllis Caro

Women that will be on the short-list for the Women in Poker Hall of Fame class of 2013 will be Lucy Rockah, Mimi Tran, Nancy Todd, and Maureen Faduniak, along with the other eight finalists from 2012:

* Debbie Burkhead – Poker Player /Industry Professional

* Victoria Coren – Poker Player /Journalist

* Nani Dollison – Player / Industry Professional

* Annie Duke – Poker Player / Author

* Deborah Giardina – Industry Professional

* Karina Jett – Poker Player / Industry Professional

* Bonnie Leinhos – Poker Player / Industry Professional

* Isabel Mercier – Poker Player/ Industry Professional
