Schmelev tries to go 3-for-3 at WSOP

Last year it was Finnish poker star Ville Wahlbeck who dominated the World Series of Poker Championship events with 4 Final Tables, including a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finish in events with a minimum buy-in of $10,000. His results were 6th place in the $50k HORSE tournament; 2nd place in the No Limit 2-7 Lowball tournament; 1st place in the $10k Mixed Games Champiuonship; 3rd place in the $10k Seven Card Stud Championship; and also managed to toss in a 12th place finish in a $2,500 Razz tournament, and a 13th place finish in the $10k Omaha 8 or better Championship.

In the 2010 World Series of Poker we are witnessing a similar performance in the big buy-in tournaments; this time around Russian Vladimir Schmelev is the player making waves. Schmelev finished 2nd to Mike Mizrachi in the $50k Players Championship and followed that up with a 7th place finish in the $10k Seven Card Stud World Championship. And Schmelev is currently sitting in 12th place, with 18 players remaining, in the $10k Seven Card Stud hi/lo World Championship.

Wahlbeck’s performance last year was truly amazing, but just 16 events into the 2010 WSOP the Russian banker Schmelev is coming really close to equaling his accomplishments.

Has anyone noticed the error on the WSOP player of the year points standing for Vladimir Schmelev. Vladimer is now in the lead over the Grinder. With Vladimir Schmelev’s three cashes (75 points, 40 points and 40 points) he now has a total of 155 points, however the wsop standings only shows him at 40 points. Can someone with the WSOP fix this. Vladimir Schmelev deserves credit for his top play.
