Winning Poker Network cancels 1 million guarantee due to DDoS attack
The WPN is the latest online poker network to come under attack from a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service). However the timing couldn’t have came at a worse time as the Winning Poker Network was in the middle of an ambitious £1 million guaranteed tournament. This is a giant leap for a network that can only really count American Cardroom as the only decent sized room.
The WPN had this to say:
Due to circumstances out of our control, we have been unable to provide a stable, fair gaming experience. Many players timed out, while others remained connected. As per our terms and conditions, the tournament has been cancelled and buy-ins and fees have been refunded to all participants.

Ireland delays new Gambling Legislation
The Irish government have decided to delay the introduction of new gambling legislation that might see players who play Poker at Paddy Power (Ireland favourite poker site) having to pay 1% on every bet. A final draft has yet to go public, but hopefully the delay is a sign that it might not be ideal in its current form.
Finance Minister Michael Noonan has been reported saying:
“As soon as the standstill period is completed, it is my intention to progress all remaining stages of the bill through the Oireachtas (parliament),”
