Up and coming Swedish poker player wins EPT Barcelona
The final table of the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Barcelona Championship featured eight players representing eight different countries, all of whom would be seeking their first major tournament victory.
In the end it was Sweden’s Kent Lundmark who was able to capture the title and will bring home €825,000 for the win. Lundmark had the unenviable task of battling Spain’s Jesus Cortez Lizano in front of the home-country crowd. When heads-up play began the two players were virtually even in chips with Lundmark holding a slight 12.4 million to 10.5 million advantage.
Although it wasn’t the hand that ended the tournament, the biggest pot went Lundmark’s way when Lizano overplayed bottom pair on a 3-T-J board, sending a massive pot to the Swede. A few hands later the tournament was over, as Lizano’s K-J couldn’t catch up to Lundmark’s A-Q.
Here is a look at the complete final table results for the 2010 EPT Barcelona Championship:
1. Kent Lundmark — €825,000
2. Jesus Cortes Lizano — €525,000
3. Konstantin Puchkov — €300,000
4. Shander de Vries — €222,000
5. Giuseppe Pantaleo — €170,000
6. Thor Stang — €130,000
7. Georgios Skotadis — €90,000

Prior to winning the EPT Barcelona Main Event Lundmark’s largest cash was for $69,000 which he earned by way of a 2nd place finish at the 2010 Nordic Masters of Poker in his home country of Sweden. Lundmark also finished 29th at the NAPT PCA in January, worth $66,000.
