At the World Series of Poker this year there is to be a new event called the WSOP Rematches. There will be three match-ups in total with Chris Moneymaker taking on Sammy Farha in the first, Johnny Chan up against Phil Hellmuth in the second, and the third match has yet to be decided. The WSOP Rematches will be repeats of the greatest heads-up battles ever seen in the main event, with players playing a best of thee format. The matches will be played on Thursday 2nd June with

the Moneymaker/Farha game up first. In the first game of a best of three series the players will start with the exact same stacks they had when their heads-up battle commenced, and in the second game the stacks will be reversed so each player starts with the other players stack. If the scores are level after two games a third match will

be played with each players starting with the same amount of chips. When Moneymaker won the main event in 2003, poker really took off

and that one game is attributed to the attention the game now receives. Moneymaker was a complete unknown when he won eight years ago and nobody gave him a hope of beating the experienced Farha. The second match will be a repeat of the 1989 duel between Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth, when Chan was going for a extraordinary three bracelets in a row at the main event. As you most probably know Hellmuth defeated him and won his first WSOP bracelet and in doing so became the youngest WSOP champion to date. The third match has yet to be decided and fans will be able to vote for their favourite by visiting the WSOP facebook page, and matches include last years battle between Jonathan Duhamel and John Racener.
