WSOP makes changes to registration for Main Event

After last year’s fiasco where hundreds of would-be poker players were turned away from playing in the World Series of Poker, Harrah’s and WSOP officials have come up with an excellent plan to allow players for the most part to still choose which day they would like to play on, while at the same time avoiding having to turn players away due to lack of space.
Harrah’s has announced that players can register for the WSOP Main Event and choose which day –1a, 1b, 1c, 1d—that they wish to participate on up to a certain date. Players registering after this date will be assigned to play on a specific day to even out the four flights.

This change will also solve the problem of having an uneven number of participants on the two Day 2’s of the tournament. Last year saw players who made it through Day 1a & 1c take to the tables on one day, and the survivors from Day 1b & 1d play on another day, which caused a massive imbalance as Day 1d was by far the most popular choice, and Day 1b surpassed Day 1a’s attendance numbers as well.

Poker players and fans can find a complete list of changes to the 2010 WSOP at the WSOP.com website.
