More details surface in Mizrachi lawsuit

It was reported last week that Deliverance Poker had filed a lawsuit against Mike “The Grinder” Mizrachi citing breach of contrant, and also against his new sponsor Full Tilt Poker. Deliverance Poker has claimed that Mizrachi violated the terms of his contract by not wearing the Deliverance Poker logo during his 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event run –he did wear a Deliverance Poker logo during his 2010 WSOP Players Championship win—as well as by wearing a Full Tilt Poker logo.

According to PokerNewsDaily’s Earl Burton, who has read the complaint, “Deliverance Poker and Defendant Mizrachi executed a written contract on or about July 12th, 2009.” This answers one of the questions I had asked when the story broke; the other was; ‘what was the length of time of the contract’? This is important since the WSOP Main Event runs from July 5th through the 17th, which falls precisely on the one-year anniversary of Mizrachi’s signing.

The poker site Deliverance Poker is also claiming that Full Tilt Poker was aware of Mizrachi’s current contract with Deliverance, and is therefore guilty of “Tortious interference”, which is apparently a fancy legal word for intentionally damaging a person’s contractual obligations or other business relationships; such as convincing a person to violate a contract they have signed.

Thus far the only word from either Mizrachi or Full Tilt Poker has been a solitary Tweet by “The Grinder”: “In light of this week’s news, remember there are two sides to every story. I look forward telling my side and the truth coming out.”
