Poker Pro Jonathan Little off to a great start in 2012

To say two-time World Poker Tour Champion Jonathan Little is off to a good start in 2012 is a bit of a mild understatement, considering the tournament specialist has already won three tournaments in 2012 with four-figure buy-ins!

Little’s heater began at the 2012 Southern Poker, Million Dollar Heater tournament series in Biloxi, Mississippi where he not only won the $1,000 buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament, pocketing a very impressive $30,380, but also captured the $2,000 buy-in No limit Holdem tournament just two days later, worth a further $42,777. His good run in 2012 continued at the 2012 World Poker Tour (WPT) Lucky Hearts Poker Open at the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida, where Little won the $1,100 buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament, adding another $38,940 to his yearly haul.

At the time of writing, Little is also still alive in the Main Event, where he is looking for his third WPT title. Few poker players can boast a more impressive WPT resume than Little, who in addition to his two wins can lay claim to five other Top 10 finishes in Championship events! Amazingly, Little flies a bit under the radar in the world of poker, despite closing in on $5 million in career tournament earnings according to thehendonmob.com’s database –good enough to put him 69th on the all-time tournament poker money-list.

In 2011, Little also released the first volume of his two-volume tournament poker series. Titled, Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker, the book has been met by rave reviews, and if Little continues his torrid pace in 2012 it’s likely to become one of the best-selling poker books of the year.

I go to know Little when I interviewed him for a review of his book, and one of the most revealing things in my mind was his strict adherence to his schedule and his willingness to continue to work on bettering himself as a player, which you can see from his answer to the following question:

PokerNewsBoy: Before anything else, what have you been up to since Black Friday, and how you have adjusted to the drastic changes it has caused in the poker world?”

Jonathan Little: My schedule hasn’t really changed too much. Before black Friday, I would play live around 20 days per month and online around 10 days per month. Now I use those 10 online days to work on poker videos and other poker related projects, like writing my book.”

The most remarkable thing I learned about Little was that he managed to write 550 pages in just 2 WEEKS!

“Writing the book was a fairly easy process for me because I already knew what I wanted to write. I went to NYC for 2 weeks and wrote the 550 pages that make up volume 1 and 2 of Secrets of Professional Tournament Poker in around 2 weeks. It was a nice fun grind.”
