PokerStars NJCOOP Will Have 46 Events And $1.2 Million In Prize M
New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware are currently the only three states in America to have legalized online poker. New Jersey could see hundreds of poker players from different states heading over to take part in the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP) which is a part of the PokerStars brand.
PokerStars recently announced a full scheduled for its NJCOOP which commences on September 30 and finishes on October 16. The 17 day poker festival will see a total of 46 poker events being held and a total of $1.2 million in prize money to be won. New Jersey gaming law only permits poker players physically present within the boundaries of the Garden State to be allowed access to online poker websites.
The highlight of the NJCOOP will be the NL Hold’em Main Event which starts on October 15 and has a buy-in of $500 with a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000. Poker players who are looking for high roller events will also be interested in the $250 NL Hold’em Sunday Special which starts on October 1 and has a guaranteed $85,000 and the $1,000 NL Hold’em High Roller which takes place on October 10 and has $80,000 in guaranteed prize money.
Team PokerStars will have a number of its ambassadors attending the NJCOOP including Chris Moneymaker who was the 2003 WSOP Main Event Winner and Jason Somerville who has more than $3.5 million in career prize money and a massive following on Twitch. PokerStars mind sports ambassador Jen Shahade is also looking forward to the event as she had success during the last NJCOOP finishing 3rd in the Main Event.
Shahade has won a little over $300,000 playing online poker but she is one of the few female poker pros who is expected to be a part of the NJCOOP. She knows that with players traveling in from other states, the competition is going to be really tough but with 46 events spread across 17 days, she can choose which events she thinks she has a good chance of winning and then move forward and see how it goes.
There are a number of NJCOOP events with low buy-ins such as the $75+R PL Omaha Hi/Lo [8-max] which takes place on October 2 and the $50+R NL Hold’em [3-Max, Hyper, Rebuy] which takes place on October 6. PokerStars is also running a number of satellite events with buy-ins as low as $1 which gives players a chance at winning a seat at the NJCOOP.
