Merge rebounds after S:P article causes traffic drop

merge gaming rakebackA report last week by the website Subject: Poker regarding possible Department of Justice action against payment processors working in conjunction with the Merge Gaming Network saw the site take a tremendous hit in terms of overall traffic –with pokerscout.com detailing a 25% drop in traffic this past Monday evening, and a 10% drop in week-over-week traffic.

However, after the initial panic caused by the article’s implications that Merge Gaming might also be a target (which seems highly unlikely at this point in time, and the only evidence Subject: Poker’s source claimed was action against payment processors) the Merge gaming Network has started to rebound, and is once again looking to rejoin the Top 10 after falling to #12.

Not to place on the blame on the Subject: Poker article, it should be pointed out that the PokerStars WCOOP is currently running, and the popular tournament series typically siphons off traffic from other sites during the WCOOP’s.

While large affiliates and the Merge Gaming sites themselves have been extremely critical of S:P for the article, it appears the poker world has calmed down after their initial freak-out in response to the S:P article: Traffic was back up on the Merge Gaming Network to an average of 1,100 players on Wednesday, and peak traffic once again climbed over 2,000 players for cash-games at the network that includes Lock Poker, Hero Poker, and Carbon Poker.
