aussie millionsAccording to PokerNews.com the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia has confirmed that the Aussie Millions will once again host a $250,000 Super-High-Roller tournament. The first $250,000 Super-High-Roller took place at last year’s Aussie Millions, and despite being hastily created in the middle of the tournament series a respectable field of 20 players entered the tournament.

According to the PokerNews.com report several players have already confirmed that they will partake in the 2012 running of the tournament, including last year’s winner Erik Seidel and runner-up Sam Trickett. Other players who have confirmed were Tony Bloom, James Bord, and Patrik Antonius, with Tom Dwan, Dan Shak, and Daniel Cates listed as maybes.

The Crown Casino has also claimed that several Chinese businessmen have confirmed they will play in the tournament, last year the tournament attracted three of the high-stakes players from Macau.

Attendance doesn’t have to increase very much for the tournament to be one of the richest in poker history, considering there was $5 million up for grabs last year. If tournament organizers can attract even 30 players (which is within the realm of possibility considering virtually every PokerStars pro boycotted the tournament last year due to its affiliation with Full Tilt Poker) the prize-pool would swell to $7.5 million.

Suppose the tournament hits 48 players (the cap set on the $1 million buy-in event scheduled for the 2012 WSOP), the total prize-pool would then be in the $12 million range! We’ll keep you posted as more players confirm for the event.
