2011 PCA_10K Main Event_Day 4Women were not only winning at the 2013 World Series of Poker –two open-event bracelets, a 29th place showing by Jackie Glazier in the Main Event, and of course the Ladies Championship—but all summer long across Las Vegas women were finding themselves victorious in major tournaments.

Two of the biggest wins this summer belong to two well-known female poker players, PokerStars Pro Ana Marquez, who won the Hollywood Poker Open, and Allyn Jaffrey Shulman, who won the recently concluded Venetian Main Event. Both wins saw Marquez and Jaffrey Shulman walk away with healthy six-figure paydays, and put another stamp on a very good summer for female poker players.

Ana Marquez wins the Hollywood Poker Open

One of the top young female players in the game is Spain’s Ana Marquez, and she has had a very good 2013 thus far. Marquez’s year began with a string of four five-figure scores in January in February, and culminated with her win in the $2,500 buy-in Hollywood Poker Open Main Event at the M Resort in Las Vegas.

Marquez weaved her way through the 631 player field, and triumphed over a very tough final that included Sam Stein, Griffin Benger, Ryan Teppen, and Ramzi Jelassi. The $320k payday was the largest of Marquez’s career, and was her first major tournament victory.
