Mizrachi headlines Epic Poker League final table

Fresh off a final table at the WPT Five Diamond Poker Classic, Internet phenom turned live tournament grinder Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger is on the precipice of winning his first major tournament title as he takes the chip-lead into the final table of the Epic Poker League Main Event.

Lichtenberger has been a regular on the tournament trail since late-2008, and although he has managed to capture a few notable titles – a WSOP Circuit Series win in 2010, a $3,000 NLHE NAPT side event also in 2010, and the $5k Heads-Up title at the 2011 EPT Grand Final—a major tournament title has eluded him to this point.

Lichtenberger’s road to his first major title will definitely have some speed-bumps as the other four competitors at the final table are no slouches themselves. Joining Lichtenberger for Sunday’s five-handed final table will be Mike “The Grinder” Mizrachi, two-time WSOP bracelet winner Scott Clements, and tournament pros Joe Tehan and Chris Klodnicki.

Tehan had a horrendous day on Day 4 of the tournament, but thanks to his massive chip-lead entering Saturday’s action he managed to hang on and secure a spot at the final table, despite LOSING about a third of his chips throughout the day! Tehan is still only a double-up away from the chip-lead, and his 1.1 million chips he began the day with would have put him in third place at the final table –which shows just how important building a big lead can be, even if you struggle the following day.

The only player in real trouble at this point is Scott Clements who will bring a mere 131,000 chips to the final table, with the average stack being 1 million chips. Clements will have a little bit of time to find a good spot as the blinds are only at 3k/6k with a 1k ante at this point –giving Clements over 20 Big Blinds.

Here is a look at the official seating assignments and chip counts courtesy of the Epic Poker League:

* Seat 1: Joe Tehan – 820,000

* Seat 2: Scott Clements – 131,000

* Seat 3: Andrew Lichtenberger – 1,742,000

* Seat 4: Chris Klodnicki – 1,024,000

* Seat 5: Michael Mizrachi – 1,279,000

There will also be an added a wrinkle when the players get to the heads-up portion of the tournament: Once the final two players have been established they will play a best two-out-of-three match for the Epic Poker League title. During Round 1 and Round 2 of the contest both players will begin the heads-up battle with the chip-stacks they held entering heads-up play. However, if the match should need the tie-breaking 3rd Round to settle things the players will begin with even chip-stacks.
