The tournament poker world is always a hectic place right before Christmas, and with the PokerStars PCA and the Aussie Millions occurring in January the schedule only gets more intense. In this installment I’ll update you on some recent results from events around the world, as well as offer up a look at some of the 2013 schedules for major tournament series that were released recently.

2013 Irish Poker Open schedule announced

The Irish Poker Open is one of the longest-running tournaments in poker, and the 2013 running of the IPO will once again be sponsored by PaddyPower Poker. For 2013 the IPO will feature a reduced buy-in in order to attract more entrants, and specifically more local and casual entrants. The tournament will take place from March 29 through April 1, 2013, and will feature a €2,000 + €250 buy-in.

A spokesman for Paddy Power had this to say regarding the reduction:

“Europe’s favourite poker tournament is back but after listening to players on the ground we’ve decided to lower the Irish Open buy in and open the event up to suit many more pockets. It still has the same prestige, the same history, and the same great value like Sole Survivor.

“However this year we’re aiming to make it bigger than ever and that means more chances to qualify, better value for all and tons more fun as we bring poker back to the people in Dublin!”
