Voting for the 2011 British Poker Awards is underway

It’s that time of year again, when the UK’s top poker player are honored at the British Poker Awards –as well as one International poker player—and for the second annual British Poker Awards fans will be allowed to vote in 12 separate categories, while the Player of the Year category will be chosen by a select panel.

The British Poker Awards will be held on September 3, 2011 On the Main Stage at Poker in the Park, Hanover square, in London. The festivities will begin at 3PM local time and are open to the public and will be free of charge!

There are four new categories for fans to vote in, and one category, the Best Newcomer Award, has been cut from last year. The new categories include Best PLO Player, Best Social Media User, Best Blogger, and Poker Personality of the Year.

Some of the players nominated include Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Chris Moorman, Sam Trickett, John Duthie, The Hendon Mob, Vicky Coren, Richard Ashby, Jake Cody, Liv Boeree, and David “Devilfish” Ulliott –who would have hands down won the Best Interview category if there was one!

* Reader’s Choice: Best International Player

* Reader’s Choice: Best Cash Player

* Reader’s Choice: Best Mixed Game Player

* Reader’s Choice: Best PLO Player

* Reader’s Choice: Best Tournament Player

* Reader’s Choice: Best Social Media User

* Reader’s Choice: Best Blogger

* Reader’s Choice: Best Online Player

* Reader’s Choice: Best Poker League

* Reader’s Choice: Best Poker Forum

* Reader’s Choice: Best Contribution to Poker

* Reader’s Choice: Poker Personality of the Year

* Player of the Year

At the inaugural, 2010, British Poker Awards a total of 10 awards were handed out. Here is a look at the winners from the 2010 BPA ceremony:

* Best Cash Player – Neil Channing

* Best Tournament Player – James Akenhead

* Best Online Player – Chris Moorman

* Best International Player – Phil Ivey

* Best Poker League – The Nuts Poker League

* Best UK Card Room sponsored by The Poker Channel – Dusk till Dawn

* Best Contribution to Poker – Vicky Coren

* Best UK Poker Forum – Hendon Mob

* Player’s choice: Best newcomer – Sam Trickett (voted by select panel)

* Player’s choice: Best all round player – Richard Ashby (voted by select panel)
