2003 WSOP final hand cards being auctioned on EBay

If you’re not interested in one of the numerous World Series of Poker bracelets that have found their way to the online auction giant EBay, maybe another piece of WSOP history will tickle your fancy. Yesterday a seller listed one of the more interesting pieces of poker memorabilia I have seen; the deck of cards that was used during the final hand of the 2003 WSOP Main Event.

The items are authenticated by both Chris Moneymaker and tournament director Matt Savage, and include the complete deck (with winning hands and board cards) the dealer cut-card, and even the dual box of KEM cards with the second unused deck.

The seller has put a minimum price of $7,500 on the auction, and in all honesty this is one of those items that you really don’t know what it might sell for. I wouldn’t be surprised if the cards went for $20,000, and I wouldn’t be overly surprised if an auction starting at $1 only reached $500.

There was no reason given as to why the seller is offering up this item at this time, perhaps the seller would like to use the proceeds to write his own blackjack guide or something.

If you are curious how the seller was able to procure this item; according to the item description:

“I was there when it all happened, working behind the scenes at Binion’s Horseshoe. I obtained permission to keep the deck, so right after Chris had posed for those famous photos where he was holding wads of cash high in the air, I carefully placed all of the cards from that final hand on top of the rest of the deck, kept in sequence, along with the dealer’s cut card, and put the complete deck back into the double Kem box along with the unused deck.”

Here is the auction listing: Chris Moneymaker’s *ACTUAL* cards from WSOP 2003!
