Another record-setting field at the 2011 WSOP

So much for Black Friday negatively impacting the attendance numbers at the 2011 World Series of Poker! Yet another tournament has broken a record in terms of attendance, this time the $1,500 No Limit Holdem event which bested the previous mark, set in 2007, by six entries. A total of 3,157 players ended up registering for Event #18, creating a massive first-place payday of $735,400 –not too shabby for a $1,500 buy-in event!

With a mix of big-time pros, grinders, and plenty of amateurs –including Boston Celtics All-Star Paul Pierce– this tournament was the definition of a donkament, and the 490 players who survived the day not only needed a great deal of skill, but also that early level magic to make it through to Day 2.

Here is a look at the top 10 chip counts heading into Day 2 of the $1,500 NNLHE tournament on Sunday:

1. Kenny Nguyen – 110,600

2. Jonathan Lane – 108,400

3. Aneris Adomkevicius – 103,100

4. Stuart Stone – 101,900

5. David Briedis – 100,700

6. David Hickman – 92,600

7. Anton Brenner – 92,300

8. Danny Noam – 89,500

9. Adam Bage – 82,100

10. Robert Rottmann – 79,600

Who else is left standing? How about Erick Lindgren, Chris Moorman, Christian Harder, Jon Turner, Steven van Zadelhoff, Jean-Robert Bellande, Humberto Brenes, Men Nguyen, Dwyte Pilgrim, Praz Bansi, (Mrs. Erick Lindgren) Ericka Schoenberg, Matt Stout, David Chicotsky, and Scott Seiver, all of whom are over 10k in chips.
