Canada picks up first WSOP bracelet of 2011
If it wasn’t for the incredible performance of UK poker players at the 2010 World Series of Poker one of the big storylines would have been the performances of Canadian poker players, who may not have won as many bracelets as the Brits, but they sure did make a lot of final tables! At the 2011 WSOP the UK players are once again scoring wins, and now Canada has picked up their first WSOP bracelet of the Series thanks to Tyler Bonkowski’s victory in the $3 k Limit Holdem tournament.
Day 3 of the tournament began with 18 players remaining in contention for the title, and the table likely breathed a sigh of relief as one of the most dangerous players remaining, 2010 BLUFF Magazine Player of the Year Sorel Mizzi, was eliminated early on in the day in 16th place. This left the door open for the other players in the tournament, and it was Mizzi’s countryman Bonkowski who would walk through that open portal.
Here is a look at the final table payouts for the $3k Limit Holdem tournament:
1. Tyler Bonkowski – $220,817
2. Brandon Demes – $136,419
3. Andrew Brongo – $100,198
4. Shawn Keller – $74,171
5. Matt Sterling – $55,338
6. Mitch Schock – $41,621
7. Casey McCarrel – $31,547
8. Ron Burke – $24,095
9. Jeff Shulman – $18,547
