Duhamel among 59 players remaining in WSOP $1k NLHE

At the end of Day 2 the original starting field of over 4,000 players has been trimmed dramatically as just 59 players remained in the $1k No Limit Holdem tournament at the 2011 WSOP, and sitting smack dab in the middle of the leader-board is a very familiar name when it comes to large field WSOP tournaments: Jonathan Duhamel, the 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion.

Joining Duhamel on Day 3 of the tournament will be chip-leader Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, the least known of the Flying Mizrachi brothers, Eric, and poker pro David Peters who is looking to better his runner-up finish in this event from the 2010 WSOP.

On the line for the remaining players is a $611,185 first-place prize (plus a WSOP bracelet) although each remaining player is guaranteed at least $14,000 in prize-money.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 3 of the tournament:

1. Jon Turner – 749,000

2. Kyle Speake – 573,000

3. Hunter Frey – 535,000

4. Sadan Turker – 487,000

5. Brandon Shane – 482,000

6. Christopher Goggin – 464,000

7. Young Ji – 425,000

8. Stuart Krasney – 385,000

9. Daniel Haglund – 301,000

10. Valerie Cross – 297,000

15. Jonathan Duhamel – 250,000

With the Hard-Stop rule in effect it’s unlikely the tournament will finish up on Tuesday, but the final table may be a possibility before play is halted after 10 levels of play.
