Hellmuth denied 12th WSOP bracelet finishes 7th

Phil Hellmuth looked like a serious contender for his 12th World Series of Poker bracelet (it would be his first at the World Series of Poker Europe) after playing near-flawlessly over the first two days of the tournament, and most importantly by keeping his short-temper under wraps. But that would all come to an end on Sunday, when Hellmuth made some suspect decisions, as well as becoming incredibly tilted by the other players at the table.

In the end, Hellmuth’s latest deep run in a WSOP tournament would come to an end with a 7th place finish, and even though it should close the gap between Phil Hellmuth and Ben Lamb for the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year award, Hellmuth has, and will always be, all about the bracelet.

Hellmuth was the only notable name amongst the 12 players who returned for Day of the tournament, but in the end it would be Guillame Humbert who would take home the first bracelet of the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe tournament series, after flopping a straight against Azusa Maeda during the heads-up portion of the tournament.

Here is a look at the Top 10 finishers in Event #1 of the 2011 WSOP Europe:

1. Guillaume Humbert — €215,999

2. Azusa Maeda — €133,471

3. Roy Finlay — €92,629

4. Matan Krakow — €65,068

5. Adrien Allain — €46,250

6. Marton Czuczor — €33,255

7. Phil Hellmuth — €24,183

8. Alexander Salabaschew — €24,183

9. Casey Kastle — €17,790

10. Bruno Benveniste — €17,790
