Marsha Wolak wins 2011 Ladies Championship at WSOP

There was a lot going on at the final table of the 2011 World Series of Poker Ladies Championship as a man took his seat amongst the other eight remaining ladies trying to make a little WSOP history and win the pink Gold Bracelet specially designed for the event –as much as I hate men playing in Women’s Tournaments, seeing him hold up the pink bracelet for his photo-op would have been worth it.

In the end Jonathan Epstein would be the first player eliminated from the official final table, finishing the tournament in 9th place. Throughout his deep run in the tournament Epstein was the Poker version of a wrestling “Heel”, and after being eliminated he was serenaded by “na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey-hey, goodbye.”

After battling as one of the short-stacks all-day, Marsha Wolak would eventually go on a heater at just the right time –during three-handed play—and found herself with a 3-to-1 chip lead over the very tough Karina Jett entering heads-up play. In just the first hand of heads-up play the two got it all-in on the flop with Wolak’s top pair holding off Jett’s open-ended straight draw with an over-card.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

1. Marsha Wolak – $192,344

2. Karina Jett – $119,010

3. Carol Tomlinson – $74,459

4. Valerie McColligan – $54,045

5. Peg Ledman – $39,897

6. Katherine Stahl – $29,909

7. Jennifer Cowan – $22,750

8. Genevieve Gloutnez – $17,537

9. Jonathan Epstein – $13,701
