Pot Limit Omaha 8 or better is one of the newest poker formats around and the intricacies of the game are still being tested and tinkered by the best poker minds in the world, but after seeing the performances put on by the poker pros in this event one thing is for certain; the game favors experienced poker players with a good understanding of multiple forms of poker since there are few PLO8 “specialists”.

One look at the final table says it all: 2009 $50k HORSE Champion David Bach, high stakes cash game regular Phil Laak, not to mention Allen Kessler, Nick Schulman, and Nick Binger. Laak and Bach were both looking for the second WSOP bracelets, while Kessler and Schulman looked to add another bullet on their poker resumes.

But, in the end it would come down to a battle between Bach and Binger, and it would be Binger who would come out victorious in the final preliminary tournament of the 2011 WSOP, picking up his first major tournament win, and first WSOP bracelet. Here is a look at the final table payouts for the tournament:

1. Nick Binger – $397,073

2. David Bach – $245,314

3. Bryce Yockey – $180,180

4. Phil Laak – $133,377

5. Trevor Reader – $99,512
