Phil Ivey goes for WSOP bracelet #10 today

Phil IveyWith 14 players remaining in Event #18, a $1,000 buy-in No limit Holdem tournament, all eyes will be on one specific player still in the hunt, Phil Ivey. Ivey has been on a bracelet winning bonanza over the past few years (despite taking the entire 2011 WSOP tournament series off) and is now flirting with poker history, as he is just a single bracelet away from hitting double-digits; a feat that has only been accomplished by three men, Johnny Chan, Doyle Brunson, and Phil Hellmuth.

Ivey’s path to bracelet #10 will not be an easy trek. His biggest obstacle will be the very-hungry Taylor Paur, the current chip-leader, who is an online poker legends trying to finally breakthrough in live events –I’ve been talking this guy up for a couple of years and it looks like the one year I don’t pick him as a One to Watch he is flirting with a bracelet. In addition to Paur WSOPC legend Kyle Cartwright is still in the mix as well, with all three at the same table to start the day along with Daniel Idema.

Ivey won bracelet #9 at the WSOP APAC earlier this year, when he won the $2,200 Mixed Game tournament. Remarkably, this would be Ivey’s first bracelet in No limit Holdem.
