First place for winning Event #37 would be for most of us a life-changing sum of money, nearly $330k, but for the man who ended up winning the tournament it was likely worth at least 10-times that much thanks to his side action! Phil Ivey picked up his 8th World Series of Poker bracelet early this morning which puts him into very select company among the all-time greats.

* Phil Hellmuth – 11 WSOP bracelets
* Doyle Brunson – 10 WSOP bracelets
* Johnny Chan – 10 WSOP bracelets
* Johnny Moss – 9 WSOP bracelets
* Phil Ivey – 8 WSOP bracelets
* Erik Seidel – 8 WSOP bracelets

Ivey’s bracelets have come in a myriad of different poker games, and surprisingly none of the titles have been in Holdem:

* Seven Card Stud/Omaha 8 or better
* 2-7 No Limit Triple Draw
* Pot Limit Omaha
* SHOE
* Seven Card Stud hi/lo
* Seven Card Stud
* Pot Limit Omaha
* HORSE

Amazingly, Phil also has four 2nd place finishes in WSOP events, and two 3rd place finishes.

Legacy cemented, if Ivey continues to enter the majority of WSOP tournaments over the next decade it’s a foregone conclusion that Phil will become the all-time bracelet winner in WSOP history.
