Sands takes commanding lead into PLO8 final table

At the 2010 World Series of Poker the online poker room Doyles Room held a contest involving four online poker pros that would see at least one of them become a member of the now-defunct Brunson 10. One of those players was David “doc” Sands, who would earn his way onto the Brunson 10 roster after a breakout WSOP that included four cashes and one final table.

Fast forward to 2011, and Sands is once again putting together a nice WSOP run. The poker pro already has a 3rd place finish in the $1,500 PLO tournament under his belt, and has just made his second final table of the 2011 WSOP in the PLO8 tournament where he holds a commanding chip-lead over the rest of the field.

Sands is still searching for his first major live tournament win, which could very well come on Saturday if he continues to run nuclear hot.

Here is a look at the chip counts for the 10 remaining players in the $1,500 PLO8 tournament:

1. David Sands – 1,130,000

2. Jeff Gibralter – 514,000

3. Igor Sharaskin – 487,000

4. David Singontiko – 420,000

5. Robert Campbell – 365,000

6. TJ Scarber – 359,000

7. Marco Oliveira – 335,000

8. Clifford Kettinger – 288,000

9. Michael Yee – 213,000

10. JR Reiss – 149,000
