There wasn’t a lot of tournament action over the past week but there were plenty of announcements regarding upcoming poker tournaments including the massive $1,000,000 buy-in Big One for OneDrop and two separate poker cruises –yes poker tournaments on cruise ships are coming back!

For anyone that has fond memories of the Party Poker Million and other poker tournament cruise destinations you’ll be excited to know that both the World Poker Tour and the Heartland Poker Tour plan on reviving the poker cruise, with both tours announcing upcoming stops that will take place aboard a luxury cruise ship.

The HPT will be hosting the “HPT on the High Seas” from January 19-26, 2013. The tournament will feature a $1,100 Main Event aboard the MSC Poesia, which will set sail from Fort Lauderdale, FL, and make stops in Cozumel, Mexico, Honduras, the Grand Cayman Islands and Jamaica during the week-long excursion.

The WPT will be offering their own poker cruise this fall in what they are calling the “WPT Cruise”, which will take place aboard the Royal Caribbean ship Freedom of the Seas. The cruise is scheduled to begin on September 30th and run through October 7th.
