With just 28 players remaining in Event #28, a $1,500 No Limit Holdem tournament, Season IX WPT Player of the Year Andy Frankenberger is right in the thick of things currently sitting in fourth place on the leader-board. Frankenberger is looking for his first WSOP win to go along with his WPT title at the 2010 Legends of Poker and his POY trophy.

Standing in Frankenberger’s way is a number of top poker players who have also managed to navigate the minefield that is a $1.500 NLHE tournament at the WSOP. Amongst the remaining players are Brett Hruby, Owen Crowe, Tyler Kenney, Mickey “Mement_Mori” Petersen, Matt Graham, and Lars Bonding.

Here is a look at the Top 10 chip counts heading into Day 3 of the $1,500 NLHE tournament:

1. Steven Merrifield – 1,025,000

2. Aleksandr Mozhnyakov – 831,000

3. Frederik Jensen – 789,000

4. Andy Frankenberger – 764,000

5. Bret Hruby – 742,000

6. Thao Nguyen – 641,000

7. Gabriel Rouleau – 638,000

8. Stephen Falcon – 632,000

9. Owen Crowe – 462,000

10. Tyler Kenney – 448,000

With 28 players remaining –and judging by the previous $1,500 NLHE tournament, it’s quite likely that the tournament will fall victim to the Hard-Stop Rule on Saturday, so a champion may not be crowned until Sunday.
