The final two suspects in the daring mid-day robbery at the Hyatt Hotel were taken into custody. The final two suspects who remained at large –and were thought to have fled the country– Mustafa Ucarkus and Jihad Chetwie, turned themselves in at Tegel Airport in Berlin. Both men turned themselves in through their lawyers, who informed police that they would be arriving at Tegel airport; one from Beirut, Lebanon and the other from Istanbul, Turkey.

The major break in the case came when Mohammed B. turned himself in to German authorities and named his three accomplices. As facts began leaking out the crime went from what many felt was a well-planned and executed caper, to simply four small-time criminals who jumped on an opportunity –not realizing the headlines the robbery would grab, and the attention that would be heaped onto them.

We seem to be approaching the final chapter of this strange case that at first looked as though it may go unsolved, and had the stench of a larger conspiracy. Alas, it appears to be just a typical “Smash and Grab” type of crime, with the suspects wielding machetes and guns.
