Following Pennsylvania’s lead Delaware looks to legalize table
After Pennsylvania’s legislature passed a bill to license and regulate table games –poker, blackjack, roulette, and so on—Delaware’s House of Representatives has put forth a similar bill.
The bill which passed the House Gaming and Pari-mutuels Committee would add card and dice games to Delaware’s Slots Casinos, which currently offer slots, wagering on horses and football, as well as state lottery games.
Delaware, looking to fill its deficit ridden state coffers, would receive millions in both licensing fees and a 29% share of gross table revenue.
The licensing fee would be $13.5 million. However, if the casino is able to meet certain stipulations the price-tag of the licensing fee could drop to around $5 million.
In addition to the House members against the bill, some members of the legislature feel the State’s share is not high enough, and are seeking a better deal from the Casinos before signing off on the bill.
