Hey folks, some important news to share regarding online gambling in the Netherlands!

On September 29, 2023, Betonline’s operator, Blue High House, was handed a “stop and desist” order from the Dutch gambling watchdog, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA). They’ve been given two weeks to halt their gambling services for our Dutch friends.

Why did this happen? Well, back in December 2021, the KSA raised eyebrows after they easily created an account on Betonline and placed bets, all without any roadblocks. There wasn’t even a technical barrier stopping Dutch players from using the site! Fast forward to August 2023, and they noticed little had changed. To add some numbers to the mix, from May 2022 to May 2023, the site saw a whopping 136,569 visits from Dutch users.

If Blue High House doesn’t listen to the KSA and continues its operations, they might end up with a hefty fine – think around €129,000. Yikes!

A bit of background: since October 2021, the Netherlands made sure that online gambling platforms have a license from the KSA to serve Dutch consumers. It’s all about ensuring a safer gambling environment.

In related news, LCS Limited, the guys behind Sonofslots.com, have found themselves in hot water too. They were slapped with a €2.1m fine for operating without a license. However, LCS is pushing back, challenging the KSA’s report and calling the fine “excessively harsh”. They’re also clearing the air on rumors about their return to the Netherlands, labeling them as “false”.
