IveyPoker.com roster continues to grow
While the poker world still waits for IveyPoker.com to offer more than a landing page (many people are still asking, “What is it?”) the site, headlined by Phil Ivey, is still trudging forward and signing poker players, even if they don’t have a specific role with the site at this time. The latest signing to the IveyPoker.com roster is James “Flushy” Dempsey, a UK poker pro with an impressive poker resume, and an even more impressive circle of friends like Chris Moorman.
The addition of Dempsey comes on the heels of the site signing Cole “CTS” South, who along with 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Greg Merson joined a roster of poker legends that included Ivey, Jennifer Harman, and Patrik Antonius.
Dempsey’s biggest score in poker came when he flew to a WPT event in the US to collect a debt for his friend Chris Moorman. Dempsey decided to enter the event, the Doyle Brunson Five Diamonds Poker Classic last December, and came out on top, pocketing the $800k in first-place prize-money. Dempsey had already won a WSOP bracelet back in 2009, and followed up his WPT win with a win in the inaugural iSeries Live invitational (a $10,000 buy-in, winner take all, single table S&G).
The field at the iSeries live was likely one of the toughest ever assembled and “flushy” came out on top, taking home the $100,000 first-place prize. Here is a look at the murderer’s row lineup Dempsey defeated to win the event:
1. James Dempsey, $100,000
2. David Ulliott
3. Maria Ho
4. Carlos Mortensen
5. Eoghan O’Dea
6. Faraz Jaka
7. Tobias Reinkemeier
8. Daniel Negreanu
9. Marvin Rettenmaier
10. Phil Hellmuth
But Dempsey seems to play his best when pitted against the best. When he won the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond Poker Classic he defeated a remarkably strong final table that included some of the biggest names in the game, as well as some really strong tournament pros:
1. James Dempsey – $796,112 + $25,500 WPT Championship Seat
2. Soi Nguyen – $517,478
3. Vanessa Selbst – $338,351
4. Andrew Lichtenberger – $218,933
5. Vitor Coelho – $159,224
6. Antonio Esfandiari – $119,418
De4mpsey announced he had signed with IveyPoker.com in the typical fashion; letting his Twitter followers know in a mere 140 characters: “I feel very honoured to be able to announce that I am the latest addition to IveyPoker’s pro roster! #TeamIvey”.
With the addition of Dempsey it appears that IveyPoker is trying to create a well-rounded roster (big names, up-and-coming players, and solid, well-known, coaches) that can represent both the online and live tournament scene as well as different parts of the world – maybe a German will be next and they will offer a poker bonus for German players.
