WCOOP High-Roller tournament blasts through guarantee

The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) kicked off this week with a two-day $200 NLHE tournament, as well as the much anticipated $10k buy-in High-Roller tournament, and both tournaments managed to easily surpassed the guaranteed prize-pools PokerStars had set prior to the WCOOP.

The $200 NLHE tournament saw precisely 7,500 entrants take part, generating a prize-pool of $1.5 million, while the $10k High-Roller saw precisely 200 entrants willing to part with the hefty entrants’ fee, pushing the total prize-pool to an impressive $2 million.

Obviously, with a $10k buy-in most of the entrants were well-known poker pros, from both the live arena and of course the top online poker pros. This was also evidenced at the final table which saw 2010 Card Player Magazine Player of the Year Tom Marchese, EPT Champion Kevin MacPhee, and German pro Tobias Reinkemeier to name but a few of the big names that reached the final table.

In the end it was British poker pro Ashley Mason who would take home the top honors, winning the $430k first-place prize-money. Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

  1. Ashley “DYBYDX” Mason — $430,000
  2. Xraypies — $310,000
  3. Kevin “ImaLuckSac” MacPhee — $235,000
  4. Skilled G — $175,000
  5. roi kin23 — $120,000
  6. Tobias “PokerNoob999” Reinkemeier == $100,000
  7. MatchBalla — $80,000
  8. Evan “SenorPokes” Jarvis — $60,000
  9. Tom “kingsofcards” Marchese — $40,000
