Jungleman12 scraps Canada in favor of Portugal

After being denied access to Canada, Daniel “jungleman12” Cates is now on his way to Portugal according to his Twitter account. Cates was prepared to move to the Vancouver area last week, but ran into some visa issues as he crossed the US/Canadian border –apparently Cates wasn’t aware that stating, “I’m coming to Canada to play online poker” required a work visa; oh to be 21 and worth millions of dollars!

Apparently Plan B for Cates is Portugal, where he will join his friend Jose “Girah” Macedo and will be bringing another friend along as well, Haseeb Quereshi –of the infamous Ashton Griffin “run three marathons in a day” prop bet.

While Cates has been summing up his attempted moves on Twitter, Quereshi decided to devote an entire blog post on Cardrunners to the endeavor:

“In other news, I’m sure many of you have heard by now that Jungle was denied access to Canada. It’s a bit silly, but long story short, our plans to relocate to Vancouver have sort of been canned overnight. It’s unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to experiencing Vancouver and hanging out with Galfond and company. But life when life throws you a curveball, all there is to do is try to hit the next one. Now our plans have reverted back to going to Portugal after all – most likely Lisbon. Jungle and I will be living with Jose “Girah” Macedo and will be flying out there sometime in the coming week.”

As a further sign of his lack of worldliness –ranking right up there with telling border security you plan on working in a foreign country without any papers—Cates wrote the following on his Twitter Wednesday: “I’m taking a flight from Los Angeles to Madrid, Spain… didn’t know such flights existed”.
