At the end of Day 2 the Bay 101 Shooting Stars tournament had just 27 players remaining, and leading the remaining pro-heavy field is none other than UB Poker pro Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth is sitting on a 550k chip-stack, about 54k more than his nearest competitor, poker pro Hasan Habib.

The $10,000 buy-in tournament attracted a total of 333 participants, creating a first prize of $878,500.

Other big names remaining are Chau Giang, Brian Rast, Scotty Nguyen, Jonathan Little, “Miami” John Cernuto, and Nick Schulman. The old-time poker pro John Cernuto is having a comeback year in 2010; the three-time WSOP bracelet winner finished 7th in the NAPT High-Roller event, pocketing $100,000 in prize money.

Of course all eyes will be on Phil Hellmuth; the 11-time WSOP bracelet winner has yet to win a World Poker Tour tournament, despite appearing at 5 WPT final tables.

Day 3 action will kick off at 6PM EST, 3PM PST.
