Prahlad Friedman returns to online poker roots

The online poker screen-names ‘SpiritRock’ and ‘Mahatma’ will likely go down in poker lore as the first online poker superstars; while the man behind both of those names, Prahlad Friedman, has had his share of controversy, success, and failure in the course of his poker career. Now Friedman is back at the online poker tables, and has been dominating, in true ‘SpiritRock’ style.

Since dominating the early years of online poker, Friedman has been involved in a number of noteworthy incidents; he was scammed at the UB tables by Russ Hamilton in the Super-User scandal –Friedman is widely considered the biggest victim of the Super-User scandal—as well as being involved in two controversial incidents at the WSOP: The first was ‘Ante-Gate’ with Jeff Lisandro, and the second was his phantom call in the 2010 WSOP.

Despite all of this, and the haters saying he is washed up, Friedman is still able to clean up at the online poker tables, playing under the name ‘Prefontaine’ at PokerStars ; having won over $500k in October alone! Friedman is no longer battling in the biggest online poker games in the world, and can now be found at the $50/$100 NLHE tables on PokerStars –stakes unthinkable when he was dominating online poker when $25/$50 was considered the nosebleeds.
