LA Poker Classic day 5: Vivek Rajkumar tops pro heavy field

The pros have been dominating throughout the entire 2011 WPT LA Poker Classic, and with just 18 players remaining in the field it’s becoming more and more likely that a big name will walk away with the coveted WPT title along with nearly $1.6 million in prize money.

Leading the way going into Day 5 of the tournament is former WPT Champion Vivek Rajkumar. Rajkumar won the 2008 Borgata Poker Open, and has amassed an impressive $2.7 million in career tournament earnings according to thehendonmob.com’s database.

Despite taking a massive chip lead of nearly 1 million chips into Day 5 –Rajkumar has 3.2 million chips with his closest competitor Greg Brooks sitting on 2.3 million chips– Rajkumar is likely in for a difficult day considering the quality players still remaining in the field. Not only will he have to tangle with poker legends like Carlos Mortensen, Allen Cunningham, and Kathy Liebert, but a number of top young talent is still alive and kicking as well, including 2010 November Niner Jason Senti, online legend Steve “gboro780” Gross, James Carroll, Matt Marifioti, Shannon Shorr, Jason DeWitt, Darryll Fish, and David Baker.

With 6 final table spots up for grabs this could be an exciting, and wildly aggressive, day of poker, which may very well produce the toughest final table lineup in World Poker Tour history.
