Stacked final table for WPT Championship –Hellmuth just misses
The final 10 players in the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship came into day 6 of the poker tournament knowing four of them would fall just shy of the televised final table, not to mention the $1.5 million first-place prize-money.
Heading into day 6 it was crystal-clear that the final table was shaping up to be one for the ages, with poker’s biggest names in contention: Phil Hellmuth, Scotty Nguyen, David Williams, David Beyamine, Shawn Buchanan, Billy Baxter, Eric Baldwin, Cliff Josephy, Nikolay Edvakov, and John O’Shea. Even with the two biggest falling short of making the final table, Phil Hellmuth in 7th place and Scotty Nguyen in 8th place, the WPT Championship’s final table is one of the strongest of all-time:
Seat 1: John O’Shea; the Irish player is the least tested of the final table participants has 1,200,000
Seat 2: Billy Baxter; owner of 7 WSOP bracelets has 2,440,000 in chips
Seat 3: Eric Baldwin; the 2009 Card Player POY has 4,490,000 in chips
Seat 4: David Williams; the runner-up in the 2004 WSOP Main Event has over $6 million in career earnings has 4,700,000 in chips
Seat 5: David Benyamine; one of the best poker players in the world has a WSOP and WPT win to his credit has 4,705,000 in chips
Seat 6: Shawn Buchanan; a former WPT champion with over $2.3 million in career earnings has 1,965,000 in chips
