After a record-setting field of 1,312 entrants, and top names like Vanessa Selbst, David Williams, Jeff Madsen, and recent WPT Legends of Poker champ Will Failla emerging as serious contenders, it seemed the 2012 WPT Borgata Poker Open was on its way to a star-studded final table.

Unfortunately, on the penultimate day of the tournament all of the big names and possible storylines ended up on the sidelines. Among the casualties as the tournament went from 27 players down to the final six were Vanessa Selbst, “Miami” John Cernuto, Matt Glantz, Will Failla, and the 7th place finisher and final table bubble boy Doug Kim. The final table does still possess two fairly notable names in Fred Goldberg and Darren Elias.

Goldberg was the final table bubble boy in the 2006 WSOP Main Event where he cashed for an impressive $1.1 million after his 10th place finish, and has gone on to win a WSOP bracelet in 2007. Overall this is Goldberg’s second WPT final table, the first coming in 2007 at the Foxwoods Poker Classic where he finished in 4th place.

Elias is a young online pro turned live tournament grinder who will pass the $1 million mark in career tournament earnings regardless of where he finishes at the final table. Should Elias triumph, the WPT Borgata Poker Open would be his first major tournament victory.

Here is a look at the final table seating assignments and chip counts:

* Seat 1: Jin Hwang – 2,205,000

* Seat 2: Darren Elias – 7,360,000

* Seat 3: Fred Goldberg – 11,080,000

* Seat 4: Bobby Oboodi – 11,140,000

* Seat 5: Daniel Buzgon – 4,710,000

* Seat 6: Ricky Hale – 2,320,000
