The oft-maligned poker pro Russ “Dutch” Boyd claimed his second World Series of Poker victory yesterday in the $2,500 6-Max Limit Holdem tournament. Boyd is often a center of controversy wherever he turns up originally because of his involvement in PokerSpot, the first online poker site to go belly-up and make off with players money, a debt which Boyd has still yet to make good on despite millions in poker winnings. Boyd has also been sued by twoplustwo, for a number of transgressions regarding the creation of a similar online poker site –right down to the name.

The enigmatic Boyd shot to poker fame with his deep-run in the 2003 WSOP Main Event where he was a major focus of the ESPN cameras. In the following years he continued being a focal point of ESPN coverage thanks to his involvement in the “The Crew”, a group of young poker players that included Scott Fischman and Brett Jungblut.

Also making news in the tournament were JJ Liu and Anh Le. The two women barely missed the final table finishing 7th and 8th respectively. A female win in the event would have been fitting on the day that the Ladies Tournament concluded. Liu picked up her 2nd top-ten finish in the 2010 WSOP –she finished 3rd in Event #9, $1,500 Pot Limit Holdem.
