WSOP Notebook: Doyle sighting, Dutch win their fourth and more

There was a lot of tournament action on Wednesday at the WSOP, and just a day after Viktor Blom made his WSOP debut, Doyle Brunson did the same, playing in his first 2012 WSOP event on Wednesday. Here is a look at what was going on at the WSOP on Wednesday.

Doyle Brunson makes 2012 WSOP debut in Event #15

Doyle Brunson apparently couldn’t stay away from the tournament series that made him famous, and despite playing very little tournament poker in recent years the poker legend was in attendance for the $5k Seven-Card-Stud 8 or better tournament on Wednesday.

Vincent van der Fluit wins one for Holland

With a win in Event #11, the $1,500 PLO tournament, Vincent van der Fluit put the Netherlands into a tie with Mexico and Ireland for 11th place on the all-time list for bracelets by country. Van der Fluit joins Rob Hollink, Marcus Naalden, and Marcel Vonk on the Netherlands list of bracelet winners.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the event:

1. Vincent Van Der Fluit – $265,211

2. Charles Tonne – $164,132

3. Tristan Wade – $102,690

4. Damien Lhommueau – $74,536

5. Alex Dovzhenko – $55,025

6. Rodney Brown – $41,249

7. Brian Garbe – $31,375

8. Calvin Anderson – $24,186

9. David Schnettler – $18,896

JRB playing in the Big One?!?!?!?!?!

Constantly broke (and bragging about it) Jean-Robert Bellande has apparently rounded up enough backing to play in the $1 million Big One for One Drop tournament at the 2012 WSOP. Bellande was teasing a big announcement over the past week, and spilled the beans on Wednesday via his Twitter account: “Yes. I’m going to play the One Drop.”

According to sources the tournament is up to 46 entrants (the cap is set at 48 players), and the WSOP has promised an updated list of entrants in the near future.

Musumeci just misses first WSOP bracelet

There appears to be another name to add to the ever-growing list of talented female poker players like, Annette Obrestad, Liv Boeree, Melanie Weisner, Vanessa Selbst, Xuan Liu, Kathy Liebert, Jennifer Harman, and Maria Ho [I apologize to any female players I have left off this list], and that name is Amanda Musumeci.

Musumeci was originally thought to be just another pretty face when she was signed by Bodog, but over the last two years Amanda has proven she is a very talented player. Last year she finished 62nd in the WSOP Main Event, and now this year she nearly won a bracelet after finishing 2nd in the $1,500 NLHE Reentry event, booking a $500k score in the process.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the event:

1. Ashkan Razavi – $781,398

2. Amanda Musumeci – $481,643

3. Derrick Huang – $347,228

4. Ryan Olisar – $252,379

5. Duy Ho – $185,378

6. Brian Rast – $137,632

7. Greg Mueller – $103,258

8. Benjamin Reinhart – $78,259

9. Dien Le – $59,969
